Final Battle

Captain Raynold Qwilleryn sat on the bridge of the Mobius Defense Corvette Cannon and sighed. As usual, it was a boring patrol and he was looking forward to returning to seeing his hedgehog wife back in the colonies. He looked around and saw that the sensor operator was talking to the science officer in an animated way that obviously implied that something was going on in their personal lives. He then saw a blip appear on the sensor.
"Sensors, what's that on your screens?" he barked.
The operator spun and initiated a scan. "Uh, Sir. Detecting a concentrated chaos energy signature. It's heading towards the moon at high speed…"
The science officer spoke up. "Sir! It's a hedgehog! And… by Mobius, he's chasing Julian Robotnik."
The Captain grinned viciously. "Notify Command immediately. Helm, plot and intercept course and engage. Tactical, bring up all weapons, let's finish this bastard off."
The crew cheered and the ship lunged forward.

Sonic followed Robotnik around the moon and came to a sudden stop. There was Robotnik's ship hiding in the shadow of the small planetoid. He saw Robotnik dock and disappear into the ship. He set his jaw and shot toward the massive vessel, not seeing the colony's corvette coming around the moon. He soared into the ship and soon found himself face to face with a robotic version of himself. He looked at the machine as it looked back.
Suddenly, the two shot at each other at near super sonic speeds and bounced like pin balls all around the large bay they were in. Super Sonic and Metal Sonic landed and once again Metal balled up. This time though he launched spikes and Sonic that the golden blur easily dodged. Super Sonic then impacted Metal three times before he could spin again. Some cracks appeared in Metal's armor and a little sparking was visible. Then the sparking disappeared and the cracks were mended.
"Hahahaha! Now you see Sonic, I have made the perfect robot to destroy you. He repairs himself and so is able to fight indefinitely." came the voice of Robotnik over the ship's intercom.
Sonic smirked. "You actually think this tin can defeat me? Think again, egghead."
Sonic revved up and built a chaos charge as he did so. Then he shot forward and through Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic blew apart as the massive energy surge hit him. Parts rained down from everywhere and Sonic moved into a hallway and up to a door. He smirked and knocked politely. The door opened and there stood a startled Robotnik.
"Uh oh, time to go." he said as he turned and ran as fast as he could into the massive central bay.
Sonic laughed and followed after his arch nemesis. Just as he was about to catch the old man, Robotnik jumped into a large hole in the deck and a cover went over it that looked suspiciously like his own head. There was the sound of clamps being released and a massive robot rose out of the floor that stood almost three stories tall.
"Now Sonic, we end it. I will ensure that you never plague me again."
Super Sonic grinned and took up a fighting stance. "Sounds good to me, Robotnik."

As the Cannon rounded the moon, the bridge crew jerked in surprise at the sight of Robotnik's ship.
"Holy…. Command, we need backup. We've located Robotnik's ship."
"What?! Roger, Mobius Defense One is on its way."
"Rodger that, Command…"
"Captain. We got a situation." came the voice from tactical.
"What is it, Lieutenant?"
"It's on the view screen."
The captain looked at the view screen and a stared open mouthed at the battle taking place inside the ship.

Sonic blazed a golden blur around Robotnik's war machine and pressed his attack against the robot's arms and legs. His chaos energy soared to new highs as he spun faster and faster. Then from within the machine a voice spoke up.
"WARNING! WARNING! CRITICAL DAMAGE DETECTED!"
Sonic smiled as he heard Robotnik swear and curse at the machine. He hit each limb once more and they fell off leaving the main torso sitting there slightly rocking as Robotnik tried to get out.
"ATTENTION, EJECTION SYSTEM DAMAGED, UNABLE TO EVACUATE UNIT."
"AAARRRRG!" roared Robotnik.
Sonic looked out the window and smiled. "Hey, Robotnik. Looks like we got company."
"No! I will not die at their hands! I won't, I refuse to." he yelled.
Sonic shrugged and walked around to the rear of the machine. He spotted the machine's reactor and saw the damage he had already inflicted on it and smiled again.
"Hey Ro-butt-nik! Have an unpleasant rest of your life!" he yelled as he revved and then shot into the reactor as hard as he could.
"WARNING, REACTOR CRITICAL! WARNING REACTOR CRITICAL. STAND CLEAR."
Sonic waved to the human ships and made a shooting gesture and smiled as space lit up around them as they fired their weapons. As he raced out of the bay he heard Robotnik's last words.
"I hate that hedgehog! I hate him, Hate him, HATE! AAARRRGGG…" His roar of hate was cut off by the detonation of his machine's power core.
Sonic did not need to look back to know that Robotnik was at last dead and Mobius was safe from him and his. He impacted a blast door and blasted it out into space. He headed out to where the human ships were blasting all their weapons and stopped to watch the destruction of Robotnik's hopes and dreams. He sighed and looked away. It was hard to take a life even if that life wanted to destroy him and all he held dear.
He flew back to Mobius and as he entered upper Mobius, he saw Sally, Tails, Bunnie, and Amy waiting for him on a floating airship. Sally, Tails, and Bunnie tackled him and hugged him. Sally kissed him soundly and then drew back a little.
"You did it, Sonic Hedgehog. You defeated Robotnik."
Sonic was confused. "How did you know?"
Sally pointed to a large screen set up on the side of the airship's control tower. Images of Robotnik's demise flashed over them repeatedly.
"The humans did a planet wide broadcast of your battle with Robotnik and everyone on Mobius is rejoicing over his defeat." said Tails, smiling.
Amy then spoke up. "I'm finally happy that my parents are at peace. He killed them you know and now he gets his payback. Thank you, Sonic Hedgehog."
Sonic walked over to Amy as she sat in her wheelchair and he held out his hand palm out. With the last amount of energy from the gems he used one final ability, for old time's sake.
"Chaos Control, Restoration."
All the energy left in the gems was sent into Amy's body in a healing stream of energy. Amy looked at her body and watched as her bruises disappeared and strength returned to her entire body.
"There you go, Amy. For old time's sake."
Sally smiled and went over to Amy and gave the pink hedgehog a warm hug. Amy returned the hug, tears in her eyes.
"Thank you, Sonic. Thank you so much."
Sonic smiled. "You're welcome, Amy. Least I could do for an old friend."
